In 1952, my father Norm Peters Sr. from Indiana, walked into H&S with $5.00 in his pocket, two kids, a pregnant wife and no job. That was 49 years ago. We started as a hardware and paint store, then came into wallpaper in 1975. Around 1975, I, Norm Peters Jr. came into the business and managed the store. In 1977 Peters & Sons, Inc. was formed and the new store name was H&S Home Improvement Center.

At the age of 24, I was still store manager and decided to expand the business by getting my General Contractors license. On July 23, 1977 I succeeded. Business grew in retail sales and construction. After critiquing our business we formed into a kitchen and bath specialist and full service general contractor with Tom and Ron Peters as our floor specialists and Rob Peters our paint expert. My sister Sue is the interior designer with loads of experience and suggestions. My father, Norm Sr., kept it all together and Ray Peters (who is no longer with H & S) added his expertise in carpet and window coverings.

Now 49 years later we own our property, with 4000 sq. feet of newly remolded showroom. I am the owner and president we changed our name to H&S Cabinets and Construction, Inc. and we continue to serve our customers with highest quality and professionalism, keeping our tradition of excellence.

Corporate Projects
  • Burbank City, we are an approved vendor, and General Contractor for Burbank. Projects range from carpeting to remolding the City Attorney's office in City Hall.
  • China, Minzu Hotel: Completed the 8th floor consisting of complete renovation and modifying to accommodate 8 presidential suites, and the remodeling of 57 rooms. The project comprised of design, specifications, project management and hands on construction. Managed a crew of over 1,000 members, supplied all materials necessary to complete window treatments, carpet, marble, granite, closet doors, Bar, Cabinetry, plumbing fixtures. Lighting fixtures, door hardware, all furnishings and artwork. We also remolded the lobby and main desk including all the cabinetry, check in desk, granite furnishings and artwork. In addition, we gutted and completed renovation of the restaurant.
  • Beijing,China, Jingling Hotel: Same renovations as Minzu hotel, 60 rooms, lobby, front desk and restaurant.
  • L.A. Family Housing: Built 400 sq. foot recreation room, renovated 30 rooms, as well as renovating their 3000 sq. foot transitional living room adding 3 handicapped bath rooms.
